Witchcraft from the Corners: Cinnamon Blessings
Before the first of the month arrives I wanted to share with everyone a useful tip to bring prosperity into the home. This is something both myself and my partner do at the top of each new month. Some will say it has to be done on the first day of each new month but as both my partner and I have ADHD, it just won’t always happen that way, so, the first week is fine!
Why Cinnamon
The lovely aromatic cinnamon has long been used across cultures as a symbol of prosperity, energy, vitality, and productivity. As an ADHDer, I can get behind all of that! Because of its long history of use this spice is one that every witchy person should have on hand. I keep a bottle of it by the front door just for the occasional blessing.
I really enjoy the smell of cinnamon and every holiday season I stock up on cinnamon brooms. But this post is about using the cinnamon powder to bring in prosperity. Let’s crack on!
How to Do a Cinnamon Blessing
When I say that doing a cinnamon blessing is dead simple, boy, do I mean it. To do this blessing (either on the first day of the new month or first week) take a liberal but not overwhelming palmful of cinnamon in hand and stand outside your open front door facing inward. Envision all the forms of prosperity and success you want to invite inside. Maybe you even audibly thank them for visiting you and spending their time with you. And then, when you’re ready, blow that cloud of cinnamon straight through the portal to your home.
You can either let it settle and clean it up right away but I let it linger a while. It doesn’t seem to harm anything so that’s just personal preference on my end.
Other Ways to Bring Cinnamon Prosperity In
If you want to bring more of this lovely smelling spice into your home then consider the following:
A simmer pot with cinnamon in it
Using cinnamon in your baking
Dusting a light amount on money altars or wallets
Keeping a small amount on you in a sachet
Last Words
Of course, you will want to be in the right mindset when doing anything intention based. Even baking! There’s some truth to the old adage “cooked with love”. So, if you’re panicked, stressed, or in any potentially detrimental headspace take a moment to get cool and clear about what you want. Maybe even write it down if you’re into that sort of thing!
And then when you’re ready, 1…2…3…blow!
